New Figures for Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing

In 2026, Disneyland Paris is expected to begin works along the Rivers of the Far West route, aiming to introduce several new scenic props!

These new scenes are directly inspired by original concept drawings from Disney Legend & Imagineer Marc Davis! The project seeks to preserve the land’s classic storytelling DNA from 1992, further enriching the Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing experience…. although still no sign of a full rehab for the Mark Twain boat!

Therefore, four new additions are currently expected by the end of summer 2026:

  • The introduction of resting buffalo near the Geysers
  • Raccoons featured on a floating tree trunk
  • The addition of deer surrounding an existing waterfall.
  • River Rogue Keelboat scenary

All figures will be fully produced by #WaltDisneyImagineering Paris, contributing to a richer Frontierland landscape. A welcome initiative that helps preserve the land’s original atmosphere!

The official statement released by Disneyland Paris :

After the refurbishment of the iconic Big Thunder Mountain attraction in Frontierland® will follow that of Rivers of the Far West: in addition to the in-depth maintenance of the landscapes and animal figures that dot the shoreline around the rivers, new scenes inspired by the original drawings of Imagineer and Disney Legend Marc Davis, such as a buffalo on a prairie  and deer drinking from the waterfall, will be added along the route. You’ll be able to catch a glimpse of them during the relaxing cruise aboard the iconic Molly Brown boat, which is also being renovated from stem to stern. For the sake of detail and to make this universe even more rich and authentic, the Walt Disney Imagineering Paris and Design & Delivery teams have found authentic props typical of the American West dating from the 19th century!

By the end of summer 2026, guests will enjoy an enhanced experience at Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing, thanks to new scenes added along the route of Rivers of the Far West, and inspired by the original drawings of Imagineer and Disney Legend Marc Davis.

The new figures, including a buffalo on a prairie, and adorable racoons and a skunk on a floating log, have been specially redesigned and produced for the project by Walt Disney Imagineering Paris teams. Guests will catch a glimpse of these new additions while enjoying a relaxing cruise aboard the iconic Molly Brown boat, which has recently been renovated from stem to stern.
